The soft, warm glow of the Shamash carries over into the first night of this lover’s fete. Although this scene we’ve all become familiar with by now, I would be gravely amiss if I didn’t include it. This gorgeous, romantic and passionate classic from Lukas In Love Part One (2005), burns with a radiant fire all its own and all the credit goes to its luminous stars, Josh Elliot and Brandon Manilow. With delicious, poetic abandon I couldn’t help placing Josh in the ‘damsel in distress’ role with Brandon as his white knight coming to his rescue, even though he may not have been in grave peril (after being dunked in a pool unexpectedly by his friends on his birthday no less, it was peril enough!), still who would not want the dashing and passionate Brandon to rescue them. And Josh certainly didn’t have any complaints in that regard. Point of fact, Brandon more than merely ‘saves’ Josh, but gives him a birthday to remember. In the process we are given a beautiful love scene for the ages, shining with its fiery warm light for all eternity, and setting alight the glow of passion’s fire in the hearts, and loins, of lovers everywhere.

(Note: The dvd, Lukas In Love Part One is no longer available at the Bel Ami dvd store, however may be available through other dvd sale sites. Any links to this film will be redirected to the Bel Ami dvd store page. Lukas In Love Part Two, however, is still available through them. My personal guess: Bel Ami is planning something uber special for Part One, but this is only speculation on my part, and a whole bunch of wishful thinking. This film as a whole is absolutely beautiful in every way. And I would love to see something celebratory done with it.)
