12-Kevin’s South African Orgy (More Than You Can Handle, 2010)
To leave this amazing scene off any all-time favorite scene list would be committing an incorrigible sin. Not only was this one of Bel Ami’s best group scenes since the Turkish Sauna orgy from Lukas in Love (2005), it’s certainly made the list for best scene of the 2010 summer season. Though I have already presented an edited version here before, I wanted to do a slightly different take on it. It’s indeed shorter but nonetheless potent and in keeping with the idea I had for the original edit. This scene would mark Kevin Warhol’s first ever group sex scene and at first he seems overwhelmed by it but then, quite quickly, he got caught up in it all. It became in a sense Kevin’s Rite of Passage and to this fan and ‘ BelAmi reporter/storyteller’ it became far more than that. It was in a broader sense a welcoming by his older ‘brethren’ into the Bel Ami family.
Because I’m far from subtle, from the moment I heard this song from the techno-electronica band Apoptygma Berzerk, You Keep Me From Breaking Apart, I knew it would be perfect in describing Kevin’s inner thoughts during this moment. He discovered a feeling of kinship and belonging he more than likely felt nowhere else. And in keeping with Bel Ami’s wonderful tradition of blending an element of tenderness into their erotica, the very end shot of this clip just can’t help but tug at the heart. This scene already has become an instant Bel Ami classic and well deserved.
