This week I completed my spring semester, as well as saw the end of my graduate school life: FINALLY! So, it’s time now to work on the post schedule for the coming months. I need go through all projects I had to either leave unfinished because it got too busy during school, or projects that have been planned but still haven’t started yet. But I can’t not leave you empty handed, so to speak.
Bel Ami is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year (and still as of this writing, they have only partially shared their release schedule on the site…I know, but I’m not going to tell…yep, you can tell me I suck! ๐ ) So in order to help celebrate, Bella wanted me to hunt through her archive of clips and pull out one of her favorites to share with all of you. She has many, but this one for us is indeed special. I remastered this clip last year but I never got around to posting it. For this special occasion, it’s being shown here, along with an early post I created for this clip. ๐ Enjoy!

Title: My Water Babies
This video clip is actually a composite of two clips from Lukas In Love (2005) that I had practically sitting in my drive waiting for me to do something with them. I wasn’t too sure what music I wanted to use for them. The first is a slightly edited version of the photo session of Rick Fontana and Marc Vidal which opens Lukas In Love Part One. As did the rest of the film, this opening segment took my breath away on how lovely it was. The chemistry between Rick and Marc was absolutely amazing. If they weren’t a couple in real life, you certainly wouldn’t know it from watching them. For the first portion of this clip, I wanted to leave the original music in tact as much as I could, for it was so beautiful. I love acoustic guitar and what was so cool as it worked out, the main song I used for the clip, Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap, taken from their album, Conditions, seemed to flow effortlessly in. Of course while your editing you won’t notice these things until the video is finished, finalized and played back. And I loved seeing my babies playing in the pool. ๐ This pool photo session would segue into the famous Turkish Sauna orgy in Lukas In Love Part Two.
Incidentally, seeing as I hadn’t noticed this before when I saw this film the first time: if you watch the video closely, you will notice two dolphins playing in the surf in the background. Just goes to show you that Africa in general and this section of Cape Town, in particular, is its own Eden. ๐ This seemed like such a beautiful and romantic place, the perfect setting for this exquisite film.
